Baby Showers with Children's Books

Baby shower mania came to a close last week, and it was a great time! I went back to my hometown of Seattle to celebrate the baby with our family and friends there, and I had two showers.  That means double the gifts! Hooray.

Both showers were very special! I've never been the type of person who was comfortable being the center of attention, and a party dedicated to me would normally make me cringe, (even our wedding was super small - only 10 people). However, the great thing about a baby shower is that it's not really about you, it's about that little person growing inside of you.

At one of my baby showers, the party organizer had the totally fabulous idea of having the guests bring a favorite childhood book in addition to a gift.  I thought the idea was completely inspired.  Now, my baby already has a jump start to his literary collection (maybe he'll end up being a Literature major like his mama. LOL).

My husband and I are really thrilled about the amazing books we received, and started reading to the belly right away. A lot of these books bring back memories of my own childhood or of my days babysitting neighborhood kids, so I think I may be enjoying the reading more than the baby. But I love how the baby kicks and moves around whenever we read to him. It's so much fun!

Here's a look at some of the fun books I received and some great deals to buy them for your kids on Amazon:
