23 Weeks Pregnant

This week is the beginning of my sixth month of pregnancy.  I don’t actually have many new body changes to report.  As of now, things are pretty much the same as they have been over the past 2 or 3 weeks, which is actually great.  Last week my doctor told me that our baby is likely  due about one week earlier than originally predicted, however, my official due date will remain the same since “babies tend to come when they want.” In other body news, I finally realized that all those cupcakes I suddenly need to eat, are my new pregnancy craving.  Before I become pregnant, I wasn’t much of a sweets eater, and in fact I tried to keep those types of foods out of the house out of fear of outgrowing all my skinny jeans.  But, now, since it is my one unhealthy craving, I admit that  I give in.  However, in my defense, I try to eat cupcakes within moderation by buying the little mini-cupcakes from Whole Foods.  This way, I know they are at least made with natural ingredients and the mini cupcake is only 2-3 bites, which isn’t TERRIBLE.  Currently, my favorite is the white cupcakes with white frosting. MMMMM! My mouth is watering just writing about them.  One of those little suckers with a tall glass of milk after dinner makes me a happy girl.

This is sure to be an exciting week as I am back home in Seattle visiting all of my family and friends, so I have baby showers, shopping, and all kinds of fun baby activities on my agenda.   I’ll have lots to share about my Seattle adventure in tomorrow’s post, but so far, it’s already been a blast and I know that the baby loves all the new attention.  Speaking of the little one, here’s what his week is looking like:

  • His skin is growing faster than he can develop fat, so his body is covered in loose saggy skin (not a cute picture, I know)
  • Blood vessels in the lungs are developing, which will prepare him for breathing
  • He weighs over 1 lb
  • He is between 8 and 11 inches long
  • His sense of movement is developing
